United Nations response to the 2010 Haiti Earthquake – Week 1 (3-minutes)
Within 24 hours of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Evans landed in Port au Prince to document the UN’s response to the tragedy. Among the first outsiders to reach the most devastated areas, Evans videos and stills were used to raise money and to provide a first hand account of what the UN needed to face the immediate aftermath of the tragedy in which hundreds of UN personnel were killed along with the 200,000+ Haitians. While filming video and shooting still images, Evans flew several missions in and out of Haiti in a jet donated by UNF Chairman Ted Turner, ferrying out injured and stranded Americans, and bringing back supplies to the UN Compound.
